// 2nd Annual Haute Wheels Food Truck Festival//

Last weekend food-lovers everywhere rejoiced! The Haute Wheels Food Truck festival was coming to town.

Here is the line up of just a few of the trucks we saw:

There were so many great choices, so we made our first stop at Good Dog, home of the freaking good gourmet hot dog!

Tims had a Chillin’ Dog and Tobs had a Good Dog. We liked the gourmet hot dogs so much that we came back twice!

One of the owners posed for a picture with Tobs when he delivered the food:

Next stop was Angie’s Cakes. We’d overheard great things about their cakeballs.

Tobs had the cakeballs in different flavors:

Tims tried “Death by Chocolate” brownie. The name is no joke. The itty bitty brown (in Tims’ hand in the picture above) was packed with chocolate chip chunks and a Hershey’s chocolate bar in the center. It’s every chocolate-lover’s idea of paradise.

Our final food stop was The Waffle Bus. Tobs and Tims shared the most delicious Nutella and banana Waffle sandwich.

(^Tobs’ half)

And of course, we ended the occasion with our proverbial jump in front of Urban Izzy, a fashion boutique on wheels.

The Haute Wheels’ festival was time and money well spent! We’ll definitely be there next year!

// They See Me Rollin’….//

This adventure took Tobs and I back to our respective childhoods. We both had mothers who loved to explore the city with their children in tow. I have to give Tobs all the credit for finding out about this gem of an adventure. She came up with the idea to rent electric bikes and ride around Houston. I used to ride a racer bicycle in Austin, but for some the thought of cycling in Houston terrified me! But I was ready for a new experience.

We decided to try out a place called RevolutionE Bikes.

The owner was really sweet and very helpful, telling us the best way to get around Houston. She gave us a quick tutorial on how to turn on and ride the bike. The electric bikes were built like a regular bike, with the pedals and brakes. The only difference was that it had a battery pack at the back. Turning it on was very simple— just push the ‘on’ button, choose your gear speed, and twist the handle bar and you’re off! Once we figured out how to turn on the electric motor, we hardly manually peddled.

With our map and Tobs’ GPS as a backup, we were off! We had no idea that the beauty of Houston was awaiting us. Check out where we went!

Off we go on our rental electric bikes! The bikes drew a lot of attention. People mostly wanted to know how it was that we weren’t pedaling at all.  They stopped us and complimented us, asking where we got them. We recommended RevolutionE Bikes so many times, they should make us their spokeswomen.

Cotton candy and Chinese Zodiac sculptures. The sculptures are only in Houston for a limited time. Your birth year matches with your Zodiac animal and all the Zodiac animals were present.

Japanese Gardens

Grilled Cheese sandwiches at Pinewood Cafe in Hermann Park (yummy!) It was $5 for this “build your own grilled cheese” meal. I choose grilled cheese and steak, Tobs had grilled cheese and chicken. The little restaurant overlooked the park (Hermann Park) and had a great outdoor patio.

We rode around Rice Village and Hermann Park for a while. In all the years I have lived in Houston, I never realized how picturesque some parts of it were. We passed the King Tut Exhibit and other pretty things along the way! If you haven’t seen it, you should go soon. The exhibit is moving on sometime in April.

This was one of my favorite adventures! It was amazing that we rode through Montrose Blvd, Richmond Ave, Rice University, Miller Theatre, St. Thomas University, Westheimer, and Hermann Park in just one day. We couldn’t have done it without the help of RevolutionE Bikes. If you have the time and you’re up for a ride, give it a try!

For more information on RevolutionE Bike, click here. The shop is owned by a very nice couple. The shop rents out and sells electric bikes. If you’re curious, stop by!

// The “Sweet Sweet” Sugar Land //

We probably never said this but Timi and I live in the Richmond-Sugar Land-Missouri City area which is a Houston suburb . It was a little warm and very sunny outside and we took a spontaneous trip to Sugar Land town center. This place is soooo beautiful. It’s an awesome extension of First Colony mall and is located on Highway 6 and 59 (S). It has a wonderful selection of restaurants and stores. Also, there’s always something going on whether it be movie nights or just random shows.

First our outfits: For some reason we were both dressed in some form of red

A couple shots of the town center area:

and of course, the jumping pictures !!!:

Timi’s face before she jumps (cute?) lol

                                           Jumping is for champions

oooo it’s about to be a big one!!!!

There were little shops like this one:

And pretty trees too:

                                    My million dollar smile (aye!!)

Red phone booth?? I thought we were in Sugar Land!!??

Cool Story:

So I asked Timi if she could come jumping and she said she had to hang with Jessica because she had her surprise going away party at 6. I was kinda sad LOL. Timi lets me know a couple minutes that Jessica wants to come !!! yay!! So we were decoy/distraction from the activities hehehe( i like being an accomplice to good things ) So we ate at Baker’s Street pub:

Timi and Jessica (friends for 10 years ) now that’s real!

Baker’s street pub has a British/Irish vibe to it. I love the interior decoration and their mini burgers are amazing and cost only $7.49. You should check it out!! they also have another location at Rice Village.

// Accessory Wonderland!!//

Hey y’all!!

Tims and I ventured to the oh so lovely land of Harwin. Harwin Drive is full of wholesale and retail items and is extremely ridiculous. We had a lil’ time crunch and decided to go to SW Trading Accessory Plaza and Harwin Central Mart.

Eh I’ve only been in Houston 6 years so I was amazed by all the accessories all on one street. Our first stop SW Trading accessory plaza is located on 8000 Harwin Dr. I can be a cheapo sometimes but they do have some nicely priced jewellery you probably won’t find on anyone else.

Our next stop was Harwin central mart, boy oh boy does this bring out the talent in anyone like, belly dancing LOL:

or bead making… it was like a super hobby lobby/Michaels/ Joanns in there.  We tried to bargain on a couple items but we failed terribly.

We took pics with Santa…

 And of course, we JUMPED!!!!!!!!!

// Day One: The test drive//

Location: Discovery Green Park

Timi and I decided to hit up two places two Saturdays ago: The Museum of Fine Arts and a Flea Market at discovery Green Park.

We started off at The museum district, had a some camera problems then decided to head over to Discovery  Green Park.

Discovery Green Park is located Downtown and is on McKinney Street. To help you better visualize, it’s literally right next to the George R Brown Convention center.

This park is so cool. There’s so many things you can do from eating to kayaking to running around water fountains. They even have an ice skating rink in the winter time(we shall be visiting again lol)

We walked around, visited the Flea Market, dropped some stuff in the lake lol and took jumping pictures of course.

Timi in front of some beautiful structure at Discovery Green. I still don’t know what it is but it was so lovely.

Running in mid air in front of another structure. I love “structures” lol it was really cool.

One thing we really wanted to do was be in pictures together but our lil photographer, Tito was out :( No worries though she will be touring with us next time.

There aren’t too many pictures of our jump, but it was nice to go out and enjoy/explore part of our city.

Check out Discovery Green Park, there is so much to do here:
